A small glimpse of busy honeybee life is told in clay. Observe nurse bees tending to maturing larva, pupas and young adults.

Using mainly needle tools to help sculpt and place each detail, this piece is completely hand crafted from a porcelain/stoneware mix (B clay). Surface cracks are created by using a special drying technique while the clay is still on the wheel. Rutile, iron, black and porcelain slips aid in color tones. A small amount of Yellow Soda glaze has also been used. Finished in a high fire, reduction soda kiln. One of a kind.
