Amanita
Amanita
3.25”h x 2.75”w
A mini amanita mushroom container. Also called the fly agaric, this iconic red capped fungus has a symbiotic relationship with birch and pine trees. The fungi ferries nutrients to the tree roots and the host delivers sugars from sunlit leaves above.
Lined in KE Lake glaze (a speckled and glossy swirl of blue and green)
These ceramics are handmade with a porcelain/stoneware clay mix and reduction soda fired to cone 10/2300 degrees. Only a small amount of soda ash is added for a satin finish and to keep the process more eco friendly. Surface cracks are created by using a special drying technique during the wet stage of making. Minimal glaze is used as the artist prefers clay oxides/stains for colorant. Each piece is one of a kind.
